FIRST LOOK At Google's Gemini: My Honest Review

Hey there, AI Friends!

In this week’s edition of the AI Newsroom, I’m excited to share that I've just introduced Google Gemini into my toolbox, adding a new layer of AI magic to my emails, documents, and spreadsheets.

So, now I can give you my honest review of this update and whether It’s really worth it!

Here's a quick rundown on how this could spark some serious growth for you in the coming months.

Before we dive in, here's what you might have missed:

Now, onto Google's journey. After facing a few setbacks with the rise of ChatGPT and Microsoft's moves, Google is on a rapid catch-up mission.

That has included some additional embarrassments, such as the faked/embellished Gemini demo video.

Despite some hiccups, like the Gemini demo mix-up, Google is closing in on matching the prowess of GPT-4.

OpenAI and Microsoft are still ahead, but they have a big problem:

  • The challenge of training a better large language model is difficult and expensive, but clearly feasible. It’s just a matter of time and money before Google matches the quality of GPT-4.

  • Once Google does catch up, their existing software suite is simply much better than Microsoft’s equivalents. Gmail vs. Outlook, Google Search vs. Bing, Google Meet vs. Teams... the list goes on. (Microsoft Excel fanatics still like it better than Google Sheets, though.)

  • Even OpenAI’s own board prefers Google Meet over Microsoft Teams, as was famously and comically revealed when they fired their CEO via Meet despite their biggest investor owning Teams.

The good news? Google doesn't need to be the best to win. Their suite of tools already has a massive user base, and with Gemini, they're enhancing what we love about Google Workspace.

I've just upgraded my setup for $14 per user/month, and it's a game-changer, making my Google experience even richer with AI insights.

Google's strategy is smart. By integrating Gemini, they're not just competing; they're setting up to possibly outpace the growth we've seen with ChatGPT.

Their existing dominance means they can effortlessly introduce millions to AI-enhanced workspaces, shifting the AI app landscape dramatically.

What does this mean for us? As Google and other giants evolve, we'll see AI becoming a standard part of our digital infrastructure.

This levels the playing field, offering us more choices, potentially lower costs, and even better tools as we all work to improve our workflow.

Exciting times ahead!

Have a blessed day,

Christine
